Sewer line inspection: FAQs

Sewer line inspection: FAQs

Sewer line inspection, also known as CCTV drain surveys, are becoming increasingly popular for commercial clients. Utilising high spec machinery to take high quality pictures of the drainage network has a whole host of benefits, however mainly saving a huge amount of time and money for all parties.

As sewer line inspection is such an increasingly requested service, we thought we would clear up some frequently asked questions by our customers prior to their drain survey.

  • How does the process work?

Sewer line inspections consist of a drain camera (also known as a crawler) being inserted into the drain network, this is then controlled remotely by one of our team. They’ll record the footage of the drain system which will highlight any issues such as broken or damaged pipes and blockages.

Drain surveys review the overall state of the network and can be extremely efficient at helping our team spot both existing and potential issues for the future.

  • What equipment do you use?

At Mantank we have invested heavily in our equipment to ensure that our clients only benefit from the best possible service. All of the drain camera equipment we use are iPEK crawlers, we have also discussed this equipment in a previous blog post if you would like more information on why chose this brand and their high specification kit.

  • How long does a sewer line inspection take?

Most often, the time taken to carry out a sewer line inspection is quite short, once we have captured the footage and imagery that we need we will then make a recommendation of how to fix the issues we have found. The time will be altered by how large the area is also, and whether there is complex pipework we need to navigate. Before carrying out the work we will be able to give you a good indication of how long the process will take.

  • What will the pictures show?

The pictures that the drain crawlers capture will show our team any damage or issues within the drain network. We’ll record this footage and take high quality images as we progress through the pipes, most often any problems are extremely easy to spot because the pictures are so high quality! You will also be able to look at this footage too.

  • How much does it cost?

The cost of sewer line section and CCTV drain surveys depends on the size of the area and the complexity of the drain network that we are exploring. If you would like an accurate quotation, simply fill in our quick quote request and we’ll be in touch as soon as we can.
